Until now, I've always taken vacations without the little one. There was a vacation in 2012 that he came with me to Florida ... and then stayed with my grandparents while I took a mini-trip to the coast. Last year was the first time Trisha and I vacationed together, and we've taken a number of trips together since then. And to be sure, we've all gone camping together and taken day trips.
But this. This feels like the real deal, folks.
The really hard part about this one, though, wasn't the added difficulty of kids on vacation. It was that I was home for the first few days of vacation. That part was hard. I thought I would enjoy a few days to myself, but it turns out I miss my family a lot when they aren't here. When I joined them in Florida, all was right in the world again. And we had a ton of fun.
They lost, I drank a beer. I think we'll call it a wash. We got crazy sunburns and had lots of fun.
This vacation was really short. I mean I got 3 days at our destination. But it was so so nice to get away from all of the snow and stuff for a while.
Alas, we did finally head home.
